Educational Programs to Increase Added Value of Cable TV Network

Taking advantage of education is probably the best approach for increasing the added value of cable TV network in China, experts attending the ongoing 2001 China
Digital Forum noted.

China has the world's largest amount of cable network resources as well as the greatest potential in education market. That's why educational programming may provide the strongest impetus behind the development of cable TV market.

China has so far over 83 million cable TV registered users, a figure that is estimated to increase annually by five million.

However, cable TV in China provides TV programs only, leaving two-thirds of the broadband capacity idle.

On the other side, the number of educated people will reach 300 million by year 2010, in addition to some 100 million in need of various types of training.

Educational programming can enable more people to receive an education regardless of their location, according to a remote education company under the Qinghua University, which has so far aired college and graduate courses in more than 200 cities.
